Counselling Session
Under the aegis of Abhaya - a Forum for Women, a counselling session aimed at
promoting mental health awareness and emotional well-being was conducted for
the I PUC Science students on 3 rd June and the I PUC Commerce students on 10 th
June by the college counsellor, Dr Meena Lobo.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Meena Lobo highlighted the importance of
understanding mental health and recognising the various factors that influence
emotional well-being. She spoke extensively on stress management and shared
practical strategies to help students cope with academic and personal pressures
effectively.
The session also emphasized the significance of seeking counselling and
professional support whenever required. She encouraged students to overcome the
stigma associated with asking for help and assured them that seeking guidance is a
sign of strength and self-awareness.
Further, she stressed the need to build supportive communities based on empathy,
understanding, and mutual respect. The counsellor also discussed the importance
of self-care practices, resilience, and personal growth in navigating life's
challenges.
The interactive session provided valuable insights and inspired students to
prioritize their mental and emotional well-being. The students benefitted from this
enriching session.
Ms Vijayalaskhmi & Ms Fiona welcomed the gathering and Ms Viona &
Ms Thanisha proposed the vote of thanks. The session was compered by Ms
Moreen and Ms Druthi.
