The College Day celebration of St Agnes PU College was held with splendour and
enthusiasm on November 25 on the college grounds. The distinguished Chief Guest, Wing
Commander Preeth Dsouza; President of the programme and Joint Secretary of St Agnes
Institutions Sr Dr Maria Roopa,;The Principal- Sr Norine D’Souza;The Vice Principal-
Sr Janet Sequeira; PTA Vice President- Mrs Shabnum,; PTA Joint Secretary -Mrs Lavina
Sequeira, along with PTA Executive Committee members and other dignitaries, were
accorded a warm and ceremonial welcome, accompanied by the guard of honour and a
stirring band salute, as they proceeded in a majestic and dignified march towards the dais.
The Principal, Sr Norine D’Souza, extended a gracious welcome to the august gathering
and introduced the chief guest. Drawing from her experience in the Air Wing, Commander
Preeth shared that discipline is not just a virtue but the very foundation that keeps an
aircraft—and a person—steady and on course. She explained that life offers many choices,
just as every flight has multiple possible routes, but wisdom lies in choosing the right
direction. She beautifully compared challenges to moments of turbulence. They may shake
us for a while, but with patience, perseverance, and trust in ourselves, we can get through
them and find calm skies again. Congratulating the achievers and motivating the others she
inspired the students with the message that dreams are valid, aspirations are achievable,
and our potential is truly unlimited. She also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the
Management, the Principal, and the staff for their dedicated efforts in shaping the youth
and guiding them towards becoming responsible citizens of the nation.
The significant part of the evening was the felicitation of student achievers. The Chief
Guest Wing Commander Preeth D’Souza, Joint Secretary of St Agnes Institutions -Dr Sr
Maria Roopa and The principal- Sr Norine DSouza honoured exemplary students excelled
with dedication and determination in various fields. National level sports achievers were
felicitated along with their parents for their outstanding performance and for proudly
representing the college on prestigious platforms. Students who demonstrated exceptional
academic brilliance were awarded Certificates of Merit, acknowledging their hard work
and perseverance. The Best Outgoing Students of the year from Science – Sharal Correa.
Commerce – Sonaly Ferrao, and Arts – Roopashree were applauded for their excellence,
leadership, and commitment. The PTA Best Outgoing Student was awarded to Diya
Dechamma for her commendable service and exemplary all-round performance. The
Student Cabinet and the Team Captains were honoured for their responsible leadership and
dedicated service to the institution.
The cultural extravaganza that unfolded was a spectacular fusion of artistry, creativity, and
an impactful social message. The evening commenced with a powerful orchestra
performance by the exceptionally skilled musicians, setting a magnificent tone for the
celebrations. The Welcome Dance added a touch of divine elegance, beautifully portraying
the theme through rhythmic grace. The Live Band Performance created an electrifying
soundscape, captivating the audience with vibrant melodies and spirited dynamism. The
College Annual Report was screened, offering a vivid and inspiring glimpse into the
institution’s achievements, milestones, and transformative initiatives of the academic year.
The pinnacle of the programme was a thought-provoking Kannada Dance Drama that
artistically depicted the eternal conflict between light and darkness, despair and hope —
ultimately celebrating unity, peace, and the triumph of light over shadows. Every
performance stood as a poignant reminder of the enduring resilience and strength that
binds humanity together.
The formal proceedings were anchored with poise by Mrs Shubhavani, Head of the
Department of Computer Science, while the cultural segment was dynamically compered
by Student President Mansi Raj Purohith, Student Vice-President Sweedol Sequeira, Chris
D’Souza and Abhijith Glen Vakayil, ensuring a seamless flow of events throughout the
evening. Mrs. Supriya Shenoy, Dean of the Science Stream and Lecturer in Physics,
proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the
grand success of the celebration.
The event was meticulously planned and organised by the Convenor, Mrs. Supriya
Shenoy, under the able guidance of Principal Sr Norine D’Souza, with the support of
faculty members and student volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the flawless
execution of the programme.
The 2025 College Day celebration stood as a radiant testament to the spirit of St Agnes —
instilling hope, encouraging unity, and inspiring every heart to spread light beyond the
shadows.
