St Agnes PU College Celebrates College Day with Great Fanfare
St Agnes Pre-University College celebrated its much-awaited College Day on 27 November
2024, on the college grounds. The event was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Mrs. Leena
Maria Lobo, Superintending Engineer (EL), HRD MESCOM. She, along with other dignitaries,
received a ceremonial welcome including a guard of honor and an impressive band procession.
The program was presided over by Rev. Sr Dr. Maria Roopa A.C., Joint Secretary of St Agnes
Institutions. The Principal, Sr Norine Dsouza welcomed the august gathering and introduced the
chief guest. Mrs. Leena Lobo addressed the audience and articulated that students should
leverage education to climb the ladder of success. She emphasized that the building blocks of
success are core values and self-belief. She concluded by stating that perseverance,
determination, and resilience are the cornerstones that help one face life's adversities boldly.
The chief guest, Ms Leena Lobo, Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC, and the Principal, Sr Norine Dsouza
presided over the felicitation ceremony to honour the students who had notched exceptional
results in academics and sports. Academic high-performers, exceptionally talented National
Level and State Level sports achievers, team captains, and the cabinet members were also
acclaimed, emphasizing the commitment of the college in nurturing both scholastic and
extracurricular excellence. The best outgoing students, Ms Vibha V Bhatnagar from the science
stream, Ms Areej Lulu Ara from the Arts stream, and Ms Manvitha RK from the Commerce
stream, were honoured for their brilliance and diligence.
The cultural extravaganza, which was centered on the theme of BHAVASANGAM-an
amalgamation of the "Navarasas and Panchabootas,"captured the essence of the nine emotions
and the five elements of nature. It was skillfully emceed by Rochelle Joan Madtha and Manvitha
R.K.
The evening commenced on a high note with a semi-classical welcome dance, setting a festive
tone. This was followed by performances featuring a potpourri of Hindi, Manipuri, and Western
songs that enlivened the atmosphere. An English tableau depicted the timeless and poignant
conflict between humanity and nature, leaving the audience in awe. A dance performance
‘Hasya Rasa’ reflected the lighter side of life. The Kannada dance drama emphasized the values
of gender equality and communal harmony, delivering a powerful message. The grand finale
featured a breathtaking symphony of dances culminating in Shanti Vandhya, a prayer for
universal peace.
Mrs. Olivia Patrao anchored the formal proceedings with flair, while Principal Sr Norine
D'Souza delivered the welcome address, extending a warm greeting to the gathering and the
Chief Guest. Vice Principal Sr Janet Sequeira, PTA Vice President Dr Divya Damodar, PTA
Joint Secretary Mrs Shahida Ashraf, PTA Executive Committee Members, faculty, and students
were a vibrant presence on the occasion. The formal program concluded with a vote of thanks
delivered by Mrs Shailaja who expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the
event. Mrs Shailaja, Lecturer, Department of Kannada, under the able guidance of the Principal,
served as the Convener and worked relentlessly, along with the staff and students, to ensure the
success of the programme.
The College Day celebration was a resounding success, leaving the audience inspired by the
spectacular performances and meaningful messages conveyed through each act.
