“Bharahachathurya ” - Kannada Essay writing Competition
The Kannada Essay writing Competition titled “Bharahachathurya ” was organized
for I & II PU students at St. Agnes PU college.
The event aimed to enhance the students ‘creative thinking and writing skills in
Kannada, while also encouraging them to reflect on social and cultural issues.
For I PU students, the topic given was ‘ಅವಧಾನಿಗಳ ವರ್ಗವು’ (Problems
of the Present). The participants expressed their thoughts on challenges such as
technology overuse, environmental issues, unemployment and social pressures.
For II PU students, the topic was "ಸಂಕಟ ಬಂದವರು ಎಂಕಥವರು, ಎಂಕತವರು ಸಂಕಟ ಬಂದವರು" "Sankata Bandavaru Enkathavaru, Enkathavaru Sankata Bandavaru" (Yesterday’s homes are not like today’s. today’s
homes are not like yesterday’s). Students compared the values, culture, and lifestyle
of traditional households with modern ones, highlighting both positive changes and
drawbacks.
The competition witnessed active participation and creative expression from students.
The competition was judged by Mrs. Shailaja, Department of Kannada who
appreciated the depth of ideas and originality in the essays.

From I PUC
First place : Nisarga C S ( I PCMC “ D” )
Second place: Dhanya ( I PCMB “ A” )
Third place : Lakshmi Y B ( I PCMB “ A”) & Manvitha K ( I PCMB “ A”)
The event was organized by Mrs. Shobha, Department of Biology with the support of
student coordinator Roopashree, Arts Secretary.
